Campaign for plastic-free village

GUWAHATI, Aug 2 - A campaign for a plastic free village was conducted on July 29 at Majoraty village by the Uttaran Janakalyan Samity under the guidance of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon, a press release stated.

The day�s programme began with the �Swachhata Pledge� and a cleanliness drive.

After that the campaign for a plastic-free village was conducted where the chief guest was the Assistant Commissioner of Nagaon Swapnil Paul, IAS. Among others who were present included Dr Bhuban Chutia, NSS Programme Officer, Nowgong College, Rajen Borkakoti, eminent sportsperson-cum-senior journalist, Iqubal Bahar Choudhury, accountant, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon. Momtaj Begu, GP president, RJ Biswajit Bora, All India Radio, Himangshu Barman, mimicry artist and others. The meeting concluded with prize distribution, sample of pocket system cloth made bags and sapling distribution, tree plantation, swachhata rally by the dignitaries.
