IMPHAL, Nov 19 - The campaigning for Thongju and Thangmeiband Assembly by-election in Manipur came to an end at 4 pm today. The polling will held on November 21 and counting will be conducted on November 24.
Altogether five candidates are contesting the by-elections in the two Assembly constituencies. Congress and BJP will be the main contenders in the election apart from Manipur Democratic People�s Front (MDPF).
Jyotin Waikhom of Cong, Kh Joykishan (BJP) and G Tonsana (MDPF) are contesting in Thangmeiband while Bijoy Koijam (Cong), Th Bishwajit (BJP) and G Tonsana (MDPF) are vying for the Thongju seat.
PTI adds: Police today picked up ten persons in preventive custody ahead of the November-21 bye-elections in Thangmeiband and Thongju Assembly seats in Manipur.
The State is also holding Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival, 2015 and 9th International Polo Tournament which will begin on the same day. � PTI
