GUWAHATI, Aug 18 � Support to the cause of Anna Hazare continued to pour forth on Thursday as hundreds of people from all walks of life extended their solidarity by converging at the NCP office field, opposite Shanti Udyan, Dighalipukhuri.
The campaign against corruption has gained momentum with the young generation of the State coming out to register their anger against a system that has been in need of a complete overhaul.
India Against Corruption, Assam, which has been staging a relay hunger strike at the NCP office field, said that it was encouraging to see a cross-section of citizens coming out to support the movement against corruption.
On the other hand, Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) has congratulated the people of Assam for being a part of the spontaneous citizens� movement against corruption that has swept the country. It said that to ensure a better tomorrow, it was important to eradicate corruption from the country and has appealed to all the citizens to support the cause of Anna Hazare.
�We also demand that the Right of Re-call should be included in the Indian Constitution,� said the SGBG and insisted that the ruling power honour the popular sentiment and do the needful to check corruption.
The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) staged a sit-in demonstration in front of its headquarters demanding a strong anti graft legislation.
