Call to take Sattriya dance to world stage

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 16 - It is heartening to see that the younger generation of Assam has embraced Sattriya dance with love and respect. And as artistes, it is very important for them to set their eyes on a broader horizon so that they can carry forward the legacy of the rich cultural heritage of Assam.

This observation was made by noted Sattriya exponent and Padma Shri awardee Jatin Goswami at a function held at the Rabindra Bhawan here on October 14.

Goswami also urged the younger generation not to limit the spread of Sattriya dance to Assam and North East, appealing to them to take the dance form to the world stage.

The programme was organised as part of the annual Sattriya dance festival Natabar Nrityanjalee 16 by Monikanchan Cultural Academy.

A host of other noted personalities attended the function.
