Call to start Drukair service connecting city with Singapore

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 7 - Taking keen interest in introduction of Drukair flight services between Bhutan and Singapore via Guwahati, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today requested Bhutan Consul General Phub Tshering to expedite the process for the mutual benefit of the region.

Sonowal met Tshering here today.

It may be noted that Bhutanese Foreign Minister Damcho Dorji had earlier this year announced plans for introduction of Drukair service between Paro and Singapore via Guwahati to take advantage of Indias Act East policy.

Sonowal asked Tshering about the status of implementation of the air service and informed him that he would request the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to expeditiously clear all formalities so that operating flights connecting Guwahati with Paro and Singapore soon becomes a reality.

Sonowal also said that he would talk to Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay regarding the issue.
