Call to restart eviction drive at Goreswar

By Correspondent

GORESWAR, April 27 The Deputy Commissioner of Baksa district, Vinod Sechan along with his administrative staff and the SDC of Goreswar Revenue Circle Office, Debeswar Bora launched a Swachch Bharat Abhiyan programme on November 5 last year with a view to clean Goreswar town and to expand the Goreswar PWD Road (i.e., Baihata Chariali Goreswar PWD Road) that runs through Goreswar town, for better surface communication of the public in general.

On this occasion, V Sechan visited Goreswar town along with his administrative staff, i.e., on November 11 last and directed SDC Debeswar Bora to start evicting encroachers from either side of the said PWD road for expanding it even further for facilitating better surface communication.

The DC asked the SDC to arrange cleaning up of Sonjuri, a small water channel that runs through Goreswar town. Unfortunately, the cleaning up process and resultant excavation of Sonjuri channel led to damage of two wooden bridges in the area. Nevertheless, the middle part of Sonjuri channel is still clogged with filth.

Since the start of the excavation drive four months back as part of the aforementioned Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, the drive reportedly lost momentum in Goreswar town.

Hence, the local public of Goreswar have urged the DC of Baksa district to restart the eviction drive and Swachch Bharat Abhiyan programme soon in order to make Goreswar town clean and to free it from accumulated filth and polythene bags.
