Call to protect interest of Indian traders

NEW DELHI, June 2 � Reacting to reports, Minister Development of North Eastern Region, Bijoy Krishna Handique has called for actions to protect the interest of the Indian traders at Nathula.

Reacting to a news report carried by The Assam Tribune, the Minister DoNER has written to the concerned authorities here.

The Minister DoNER, Bijoy Krishan Handique has called for action to ensure that the interest of Indian traders are not hurt, official sources said.

This newspaper had reported that following imposition of tax on Indian goods at Nathula by Chinese authorities, Indian traders have struck work and declined to participate in trade since May 19. Chinese authorities reportedly did not clear the goods at Nathula. The new tax is against the agreement between India and China, it was alleged.
