Call to induct minister from Karbi Anglong

By CORRESPONDENT

DIPHU, April 7 - With growing speculation over the expansion of the State Council of Ministers, the demand for inclusion of at least one representative from the autonomous hill districts in the BJP-led Government has gained momentum.

BJP workers here have demanded induction of a minister from Karbi Anglong. They urged Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to consider the issue seriously here today.

Local BJP leaders maintained that the common people supported the BJP during the last Assembly and KAAC elections with the hope that all issues relating to the district would be resolved in the greater public interest.

They warned that the mass support might decline if the demand of the local people (for inclusion of a minister from the district) was not heeded.

The BJP won all the Assembly seats in Karbi Anglong districts namely Diphu, Bokajan and Howraghat, and the Baithalangso seat in West Karbi Anglong. Besides, the saffron party also wrested power in the KAAC.
