GUWAHATI, July 26 - At present around 26 lakh people in 27 districts of the State are reeling under floods and for them roadside tents or relief camps set up by the respective district administrations are now the only living place.
In such a situation, maintaining menstrual hygiene is a challenge for every woman. Seeking help in such a difficult time, Mayuri Bhattacharjee, a resident of Sonitpur district, has started an online petition through the online platform change.org.
�There�s no time to grab pads when floodwaters are fast approaching. Few can imagine the agony millions are suffering in silence. That�s why we need the government to include pads in the list of relief material in flood camps,� Mayuri wrote in the petition.
She appealed to everyone to sign the petition so that the Government of Assam takes immediate action and provides relief to women and girls trapped in the floods.
