DIMAPUR, Jan 31 - The Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) on Naga Political Issue and the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) a conglomeration of seven Naga political groups have expressed the unanimous view that the ongoing political negotiations need to be expedited with sincerity and commitment by both the negotiating parties for an early, honourable and inclusive solution to pave way for lasting peace, progress and prosperity.

The JLF held a consultative meeting with the working committee of the NNPGs at the police complex in Chumukedima on Wednesday. The consultative meeting was held in a cordial manner with positive deliberations and discussions, JLF chairman Zhaleo Rio, who chaired the meeting, said in a statement today.

The Naga political issue and the ongoing political negotiations between the NNPGs and the Government of India were discussed at the meeting, he said.

JLF members, including Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang, welcomed the positive response of the working committee and also acknowledged the role and sacrifices made by the NNPGs.

The JLF at the meeting also made the assurance that it would continue to reach out to other Naga nationalist groups for consultation before meeting the leaders and representatives of the Government of India as per the resolution adopted by its 60 members on January 21.
