Call to collect cash memo against every purchase

DERGAON, Dec 3 - The Greater Dergaon Consumer Awareness and Protection Forum (GDCAPF) has discussed the issue of price rise of essential commodities with the Dergaon Chambers of Commerce (DCC) .

The team, led by its president and secretary Atul Goswami and Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika met the president of DCC Pradip Khadaria at the latter�s office on Sunday evening. In the discussion that followed, the issues of price hike and price list of essential commodities were discussed at length.

The president of DCC tabled the price list of the Golaghat district administration of November 22. He also apprised the Consumer Forum office-bearers that he had a discussion with the businessmen of Dergaon after the secretary of Greater Dergaon Consumer Awareness Protection Forum informed the matter about the price list.

Later, the president of DCC gathered the latest market price and briefed the Forum about the price list. During the discussion, the Consumer Forum office-bearers found that the prices of essential commodities at Dergaon are at par with the approved rate of the district administration even though two or three items were sold at rates lower than that approved by the district administration, as informed by the president of DCC.

While consulting the approved rate of essential commodities by the Director of Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs, Assam, it was found that they were lower than those in Guwahati. The present rate of essential commodities at Dergaon, as informed by the president of DCC before the team of the Consumer Forum comprising organising secretaries Biren Chandra Saikia, Prasenjit Khound and Jugaprasad Mahanta are: (retail) Rs per kg rice: 25-30, masur dal: 80-100, arhar dal: 120, moong dal: 80 fala moong: 70-80, dried pea: 36, mati dal: 110, sugar: 42-44, gram: 125-130, mustard oil: 80, rapeseed oil: 84, atta: 28, maida: 29 , potato: 15, onion: 20, gram dal: 145, etc.

In the discussion, the Consumer Forum office-bearers stressed on issuance of cash memo with every purchase, to which the DCC president agreed. The secretary of Greater Dergaon Consumer Awareness Protection Forum urged all the consumers to collect cash memo after every purchase and also inform the secretary of the Consumer Forum in case of any discrepancy.
