GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - Highlighting the problems being faced by the common people due to the shortage of non judicial stamp papers, NGO Save Guwahati Build Guwahati has asked the government authorities to take measures to stop black marketing of the non-judicial stamp papers in Guwahati.

We have got to know from the market that the Government has not printed such stamp papers for a long time due to which a shortage is going on. As a result, people have to run from one place to another to collect a piece of non-judicial stamp paper from the vendor. The latter are taking advantage of the situation by charging exorbitant rates. What can be a bigger example of the governments failure, when they cannot control the prices of non-judicial stamp papers, which is in their own hands, SGBG president KK Borooah said.

The issue of shortage of stamp papers of smaller denominations was also highlighted by the organisation.

The NGO also alleged that the Government was indirectly supporting the nexus. All DCs should place their requirement in advance to the government for placing an order to the security press. The government should take steps to release stamp papers immediately to prevent unscrupulous vendors from taking advantage of the situation, he added.
