Call for study materials to oil well blowout-hit students

GUWAHATI, Sept 17 - The Kamrup (M) Branch of National Students� Union of India has requested the State government to provide study materials to the students affected due to Baghjan gas blowout. A team of NSUI, Kamrup (M), including its general secretary Abinash Das, Jintu Kashyap and a few students of Gauhati University recently went to Baghjan in Tinsukia district to understand the problems being faced by the locals there.

�The team noticed that the people staying in the relief camps have lost their houses and paddyfields, which were their only source of earning,� a press release stated. People are having a lot of health issues, too, like heart problems, headache, pain in ear, indigestion and many more.

The local people need a better health check-up as soon as possible. Students have not yet been provided with study materials, the release said.
