By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 12 - The Retired Public Relations Officers and Employees Association, Assam, at its meeting on Saturday with DN Chakravartty in the chair, stressed the need for all the retired officers and employees both of the government as well as private organisations to work for generation of strong public opinion against the prevailing corruption and inefficiency in the government departments in the State.

The association, by a resolution, appealed to all the former employees of the public relations organisations to work for creation of a positive work culture in order to fulfil the mission of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Participating in the discussion, Pratap Bardoloi, Aswini Baruah, Dinesh Deka and Hiranya Bhuyan regretted the vacuum caused in the State administration where lack of political and administrative leadership had caused a huge void resulting in the deterioration of the standard of State administration.

The retired officers suggested that the government constitute work culture cells in the respective departments with association of retired competent and enlightened officers to guide the new generation with their expertise.

Chakravartty said that Assam, which had earned the distinction of one of the corruption-free states in the country during the times of Gopinath Bardoloi and Bishnuram Medhi, had slumped to the ignominy of the fifth most corrupt State now.

Meanwhile, the association decided to hold its bi-monthly meeting every second Saturday at 3 pm instead of 10.30 am as has been the practice.

Earlier, Khagen Medhi, general secretary of the association, welcomed the guests and explained the purpose of the meeting.
