Call for pollution-free environment

JALUKBARI, June 7 - Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Vinod Seshan has urged the people of the district to make all endeavours for bringing a workable solution to environmental problems and crises.

Speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day at his office at Amingaon on Sunday, Seshan also urged the people to work ethically and contribute towards environment protection as responsible citizens.

He also urged the people to start the work for a green and pollution-free Earth from their own houses and offices. He further stressed proper disposal of garbage and plantation of at least one sapling by every citizen and caring for its healthy growth. He also appealed to the media to sensitise the people on the need for environment protection.

Earlier, the Kamrup DC conducted an oath-taking ceremony for a green Earth and ceremonially initiated the plantation programme. Altogether 200 saplings were planted in the DC�s office complex at Amingaon. Officers and staff of the DC office and forest officials participated in the plantation programme and oath-taking ceremony.
