GUWAHATI, Sept 2 - The Committee Against Citizenship Amendment Act, Assam has called for a statewide protest on September 8 against the Union government�s forcible imposition of the Act on the people of the State despite widespread mass protests.
The committee also opposed the draft EIA 2020, which is being seen as a threat to the forests, wildlife and overall ecological environment of the State and the North-east, and said that if becomes law, it would pave the way for the corporate sector to exploit the State�s resources.
As part of its statewide protest, the committee will stage a demonstration at the Guwahati Club rotary here at 11.30 am on September 8.
The committee also demanded immediate release of all anti-CAA activists who are currently in jail.
