Call against creating communal rift

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, May 13 Ranjan Daimarys family members today appealed to all sections of the society not to drive a wedge between the Bodos and non-Bodos on the issue of arrest of Ranjan and the treatment meted out to him.

Ranjans kin also said that sovereignty was not an untouchable topic to discuss over the negotiating table and that the authorities concerned should look for political solution to political problems. They, however, said that the family will never suggest Ranjan to sit for talks and that it would be settled by the people whom Ranjan was leading.

Addressing mediapersons here, the brother and sister-in-law of Ranjan, Subodh Daimary and Usharani Daimary, said that the issue raised by Ranjan and his followers was political, but his arrest should not be given a political colour which will create a rift in the society.

It needs to be mentioned here that the All Assam Students Union (AASU), the Boro Womens Justice Forum (BWJF) and several leading citizens of the State too have called upon the people of the State not to give a political colour to the arrest of the anti-talks NDFB chief in the greater interest of society.

Subodh Daimary said that much to the displeasure of the family, a section has been trying to create controversy since the day Ranjan was arrested. We have observed that someone has been trying to create conflict over his arrest and we request everyone to desist from such an act, he said.
