Cachar Police to intensify drive against fake documents racket

SILCHAR, Oct 29 - After their campaign against illicit liquor and gambling across the district, Cachar Police have taken a serious view of the incidents of fake documents relating to passports and NRC application forms.

According to the police, a big racket of fake documents has spread its tentacles across the district and a large number of players who are important links in the racket have already been arrested from different places.

�We are keeping a close eye on the movement of the racket and the other key players will soon be behind bars,� a senior police officer said.

Meanwhile, Afazuddin, Noor Hussain and Abdul Jabbar, the three arrested in connection with the recovery of original NRC application forms and other vital documents from a computer shop at Shadhinbazar, have been sent to judicial custody. Police said that the shop owner, Md Ahmed Shahid Barbhuiya, and Monu, the computer operator, have been absconding since the incident. Another person was arrested in a similar incident at Katigorah constituency.

Meanwhile, Cachar Deputy Commissioner S Vishwanathan said: �We are keeping a close watch and strict action will be taken against those arrested.�
