SILCHAR, March 10 - Barak Valley-based students organisation All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) has set a deadline for the Government to release pending salaries of the employees of Cachar Paper Mill.
Talking to reporters on today, Rupam Nandi Purakaystha, chief advisor of the students body said the sufferings of the mill employees and their families are beyond words and the Government must make immediate arrangements to release their pending salaries.
For years together, a syndicate had called the shots in dragging the solitary heavy industry in Barak Valley into a defunct asset now. We want a thorough probe into the anomalies and a CBI enquiry shall unearth the foul play. If the Government fails to respond to the demands, we shall resort to massive agitation, Purakaystha maintained.
Further, members of the students association also demanded that the Silchar Railway Station should be renamed as Bhasha Shaheed Station Silchar.
