Cachar enlists names of people who buy paracetamol

SILCHAR, Sept 3 - In an interesting development, the Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, Dr Sudip Jyoti Das has issued a letter to the Senior Drugs Inspector of the district requesting urgent steps to instruct all retail pharmacy owners in the district to enlist the names of customers along with address and contact numbers who come to buy medicines like paracetamol, azithromycin, etc.

The letter, issued on Monday to the Senior Drugs Inspector as per instruction of the district administration also stated that the official has to submit lists to the office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar on a daily basis from September 1.

When approached for a comment on the development, Dr Das told The Assam Tribune �in such a situation when we are getting COVID-19 cases in large numbers, there are people who buy such medicines when they have symptoms of fever, cold and cough. The step was taken after a meeting with the district administration to keep a tab on persons who buy such medicines. Our telemedicine wing shall connect with such persons to enquire about their health.�
