Silchar, March 17: In what could be called a first of its kind effort, Cachar District administration has allocated as many as 201 polling stations as all-women polling stations in the district in the ensuing Assembly election.

“From 10 all-women polling stations in the last election held we have been able to dedicate 201 such stations out of the 1,834 total polling stations in the district where along with polling officials, women security persons will be engaged in rendering services during the day of polling." said Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli.

"Half of our officers in the ADC ranks are women along with a significant ratio of women staff and I am hopeful the officials shall be delivering their best efforts in the designated polling stations, the bulk of which would be within the urban periphery of Silchar LAC during the election. This would truly manifest the spirit of Nari Shakti and an ambience in which women feel safe to come out and vote spontaneously,” added Jalli.
