Cabinet okays provisions for rehab of erosion-hit people

GUWAHATI, Dec 13 - The State cabinet today approved provisions for rehabilitation of erosion-affected people under three categories. The categories would be entitled to benefit worth Rs 5 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh.

The Council of Ministers led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also approved the holiday list for the year 2021. While there would be 34 general holidays, the number of restricted holidays will be 31.

It also approved a new policy for agarwood cultivation. Along with that decisions in regard to agriculture income tax holidays, a new Act proposal for micro financial institutions in line with the RBI guidelines, ease of doing business/online permission for private educational institutions, and simplification of land provisions were also taken.

Further, a decision to introduce a Medical College and Hospital Critical Care Service Rule was also taken in the cabinet meeting. The cabinet also approved a change in nomenclature from Miri to Mising.

The decision to repeal provisions of madrasa and Sanskrit tols was also approved by the cabinet and a bill in this regard will be tabled during the coming winter session of the State Assembly.
