Cabinet nod to upgrade Bajali as district

GUWAHATI, Aug 10 - The State cabinet today decided to upgrade the Bajali subdivision to a full-fledged district with creation of 10 officer posts and 85 other posts.

It also decided to enhance the honorarium of 161 honorary librarians from Rs 900 to Rs 12,000 and that of 153 helpers from Rs 550 to Rs 9,000.

The cabinet also approved the Assam Non-Government Education Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Rules, 2020 that seeks to regulate the fee structure in private institutions. The Rules envisages formation of two committees � one fee regulatory committee and an appellate authority.

The Assam Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme, 2020 was also approved by the cabinet. It seeks to regularise the street vendors and organise them.

A decision was also taken for issuing notification of increase in time limits for returns, forms, assessments, etc., under the Assam VAT Act. The State Cattle and Buffalo Breeding Policy, 2020 was also approved by the cabinet.

A decision was also taken for implementation of �Uberization� scheme of the ASTC. Under this, 668 new buses would operate for five years.

The cabinet also approved creation of two new companies of SDRF.
