GUWAHATI, March 8 - The All Assam Cab Operators Union has sought Governor Jagdish Mukhis intervention in addressing their long-pending demands.
In a memorandum to the Governor, the Unions president Ismail Ali and general secretary Debajyoti Deka said many educated youths of the State are earning their livelihood by operating vehicles under the cab aggregators.
However, the government and authorities concerned have not taken any steps to address the grievances of cab operators. The operators have never been invited for any discussion as well, they said. The operators demanded slashing of the commission charged on the fare by Ola and Uber.
Among other demands of the operators are regulation of induction of new vehicles by the cab aggregators due to the growing traffic problem in Guwahati, a dedicated stand for the cabs in the city and implementation of a social security scheme for the operators by the government.
