GUWAHATI, April 25 - The All Assam Cab Operators� Union on Saturday urged the State government to provide financial assistance to the cab drivers and the owners.
All the members of the union today took to the social media and uploaded a picture with their family members with placards to get the attention of the government. The union also sent a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.
Ismail Ali, president of the union, said, �The cab operators and the daily wage earners are the worse affected due to the lockdown. There are 12,000 cabs under our union. We find it extremely difficult to make our ends meet. In this situation, how we will repay the loans taken from financial institutions?�
He added, �We also appeal to the government to provide Rs 10,000 to each of the cab operators to deal with the crisis and take measures to repay our loans as well.�
