CAA back on BJPs agenda

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Oct 26 - The controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) is back on BJPs agenda, with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat clarifying that the Act does not oppose any specific community.

CAA doesnt oppose any specific religious community. Yet few protested against this law and misguided our Muslim brothers by their false propaganda that this law was brought for restricting the Muslim population. So, due to this, there were further protests, Bhagwat said in his annual Dussehra speech at the Nagpur RSS headquarters on Sunday.

We witnessed anti-CAA protests which created tension in the country. Before it could be discussed further, the focus shifted on Corona this year... Corona overshadowed all other topics, he added.

However, various individuals and organisations opposed the RSS chiefs assertion.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi sharply reacted to the RSS chiefs comment on CAA and said Muslims are not kids who will be misguided.

...The BJP didnt mince words about what CAA+NRC were meant to do. If its not about Muslims, just remove all references to religion from the law, Owaisi Twitted. Know this: well protest again and again till there are laws that require us to prove our Indian-ness, he added.

Owaisi attacked Congress and RJD too. Well protest against any law with religion as basis of citizenship. I also want to tell Congress, RJD and their clones: your silence during the agitation is not forgotten, Owaisi wrote.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also tweeted: CAA is unconstitutional law, it is against the constitution, nowhere in the constitution is written that any law should be made on the basis of religion, so I oppose it.
