BISWANATH CHARIALI, April 1 - A bust of Late Cheniram Das, the founder Chairman of the erstwhile Biswanath Chariali Town Committee, former Chairman of Tezpur Local Board and the architect of modern Biswanath Chariali town, was unveiled today in front of the office of the Biswanath Municipal Board.
The function was planned to coincide with completion of two years of the elected body in office. Earlier, the bust was unveiled by Ruli Sharma, Chairperson of Biswanath Municipal Board, while Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur lit the ceremonial earthen lamp. A public meeting was also held on the occasion with Binandi Kalita in the chair. Veteran social workers Nirada Baruah, Bhaben Sharma and Tarun Saikia spoke about Cheniram Das.
