Bushan Haobam wins title

JORHAT, Sept 7 - Bushan Haobam of Manipur annexed the boys singles title in the ONGC-AITA Super Series Tennis Championship after an exciting three-hour match against Udit Gogoi of Assam at the Jorhat Tennis Club today.

In the final, the Manipur player got the better of Udit 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-3. Executive Director, ONGC, Feroze Dotiwala was present during the final match.

The other final matches were a disappointment as the girls singles winner got a walk over while both the boys and girls doubles matches were conceded at the early stages.

At the prize distribution function, the trophies were distributed by senior executive of ONGC Prasun Kumar and All Assam Tennis Association president Raktim Saikia, stated a press release.

Final Results: (Boys singles) Bushan Haobam (MN) bt Udit Gogoi (AS) 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-3; (Girls singles) Maithili Mothe (MH) bt Kristi Boro (AS) W/O; (Boys doubles) Bushan Haobam (MN)/Anchit Gogoi (AS) bt Abishek Mohapatra (OD)/Vishesh Patel (GJ) 0-2 (Concede); (Girls doubles) Shakshi Baruah (AS)/Maithili Mothe (MH) bt Mekhala Manna (WB)/Vidyula Manikanti (KA) 1-0 (Concede).
