Buoyant State BJP gearing up for Assembly polls

GUWAHATI, May 31 � Encouraged by its performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started the process of boosting its organisational strength all over the State, keeping in mind the 2016 Assembly polls.

The office-bearers of the party�s State unit along with former presidents, members of Parliament, legislators and office-bearers of the district committees met at Kaziranga today to discuss ways to strengthen the party in the entire State.

BJP state unit general secretary Santanu Bharali said that the party�s effort to gain power in the State in the next Assembly elections has started. He said that while winning seven seats in the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP managed to gain lead in 69 Assembly segments among the 126 segments in the State. He said that in 30 Assembly segments, the BJP managed to come second, with the difference being very slender in 15 of those segments.
