BUKSS media cricket fest begins today

SILCHAR, Feb 2 � The third edition of the Media Cricket Fest organised by the Barak Upatyaka Krira Sangbadik Sangstha (BUKSS) will get underway at the SM Dev stadium from Tuesday. Defending champions Dainik Jugasankha Group will take on Samayik Prasanga in the opening match of the week-long tournament.

Md Taz Uddin, secretary of BUKKSS said that six teams will play for the trophy which will be in the memory of Late Suparna Hore, wife of Babul Hore, the secretary of Silchar District Sports Association. Besides Dainik Jugasankha Group and Samayik Prasanga, BTN- Prantajyoti RC, Barak Valley e-media Association, Dainik Janakanta and Nababarta Prasanga are the remaining teams.

The BUKSS secretary said the matches will be played in the T20 format and will be 15 overs per side. BUKSS president Hitabrata Bhattacharjee said that the tournament is organised mainly to strengthen the bond of brotherhood among the media professionals and the matches will be played upholding the spirit of cricket. Taimur Raja Choudhury, advisor to BUKSS said that the winners will get cash awards of Rs 5000 along with the title trophy while the runners-up will get Rs 3000. There will be other awards as well, he said.
