GUWAHATI, May 3 � The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has directed all the hospitals � both government and private � to furnish their building fitness certificates in a month�s time. Five different teams have been formed by the administration to assess the status of the lifeline buildings in Kamrup (Metro) district.
The decision was taken in the wake of the recent devastation caused by the Nepal earthquake.
An official of the administration informed this reporter that the assessment would be done by the hospitals with the help of the Public Works Department and it will also include all fire safety and disaster management norms.
�Rectification, if any, will have to be done immediately,� he said.
Meanwhile, the hospitals have been asked to comply with the provisions of the Assam Health Establishment Act.
