TINSUKIA, May 4 � Alongwith the rest of the world, in Tinsukia too, the 2559th Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with a day-long programme at Buddha Vihar here on Monday.
The celebration began with the nagar parikrama followed by hoisting of the World Buddhist flag by Adhayksa Kalyan Mitra Mahalhara. A mass prayer was organised for world peace. Fun and games for children and cultural programmes were also organised to mark the occasion. Hundreds of devotees took part in the celebration. Reports of celebration of Buddha Jayanti have also been received from other places like Digboi, Doomdooma, Margherita etc., of the district.
