GUWAHATI, Jan 27 � Host Bud Cricket Club (Blue) clinched the title in the Jugal Kishore Newatia Trophy Bud Challenge Cricket Tournament.

In the keenly contested title clash of the championship at the Nehru Stadium here yesterday, Bud CC fetched a two-wicket victory against Navajyoti Club. Man-of-the-match Manoj Malo was the star of the final as his 71 off 79 balls virtually enabled Bud in crossing the opponent�s challenging total of 175 in the 40-over match.

Abhinab Konwar (65 off 42 balls) and Hrishikesh Tamuly (50 of 95 balls) took Navajyoti to 175 for the loss of seven wickets.

The Bud boys took the challenge in a positive note and hit 176 for eight with 1.4 overs to spare. Navajyoti�s Parag Das received the man-of-the-tournament award. Hrishikesh was adjudged best batsman of the meet while his Navajyoti teammate Bikash Chetry walked away with best bowler trophy. Manoj Malo also got the best wicket-keeper award while Bishal Roy of Navajyoti was awarded the most promising player trophy.

Brief scores: Navajyoti 175/7 (Abhinab Konwar 56, Hrishikesh Tamuly 50, Amit Sinha 2/23). Bud 176/8 (Manoj Malo 71, Salim Ahmed 30, Tarjinder Singh 22, Bikash Chetri 3/35, Chanakya Sarma 2/30).
