UDALGURI, Jan 27: Praising the BJP, State Health, Finance and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that his party is committed to do what it promised during the recently-concluded BTC elections.

While addressing a large congregation of people here at Ambagaon near Udalguri town as the chief guest of the closing ceremony of one-year completion of the BTR Accord, he said, “It is now under Pramod Boro-led UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance BTC government in the BTR, the region would be an example of development in the entire country. We are committed to do what we promised during the last BTC elections and, accordingly, now we have released Rs 500 crore for the road and bridge construction in the BTR and Rs 636 crore separately for its infrastructure development. We are also planning to go as per our commitment in the near future.”

Promod Boro, Chief Executive Member, BTC, thanked the people for their overwhelming support and assured to fulfil their dreams for development and permanent peace in the region.

Addressing the congregation, Dipen Boro, president of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), dwelt at length on the equal rights and privileges of the people under the new BTR set-up and said, “Let us wait for full functioning of the new council as all members are new and it may take sometime to bring the development process on the right track.”

The congregation was also addressed by Gobinda Basumatary, Deputy Chief Executive Member of BTC, Biswajit Daimary, former Rajya Sabha member and now senior BJP leader, UG Brahma, former Rajya Sabha member, among others. The celebration was attended by almost all the elected and nominated members of the BTC.
