KOKRAJHAR, March 29 � Brisk poll preparations are on in Kokrajhar sub-division for five BTC constituencies BTC general election to be held on April 9 next.
The recent visit of the State Election Commissioner Biren Dutta has expedited the process in which the distribution of work in various cells is almost complete for smooth conduct of poll.
Meanwhile separate cells in 20 different categories have been opened including the law and order cell monitoring security cover in this area.
SK Nath, election observer for Kokrajhar sub-division has already arrived in Kokrajhar out of ten observes deputed in the entire BTC area, one in each sub-division.
As per the latest political situation, significantly this time a multi-pronged contest will take place in the ensuing BTC election in which as many as 24 Congress candidates, 9 AGP candidate, 8 BJP candidates, 23 UDPF candidate, 40 BPF candidates, 21 BPPF candidates and the rest independent candidates out of a total of 185 candidates for 40 seats in the entire BTC are in the fray.
However, 51 candidates are contesting in 12 seats in Kokrajhar district out of which 25 candidates are in the fray for five seats in Kokrajhar sub-division alone.
It may be mentioned here that there are 5 seats in Kokrajhar sub-division, 6 seats in Gossaigaon sub-division and 1 seat in Parbatjhora sub-division in Kokrajhar district.
Further 2,17,503 voters will be exercising their franchise in five seats in Kokrajhar sub-division.
Among the total 684 number of polling stations in Kokrajhar district, 166 are highly sentitive, 250 are sentitive and the rest are comparatively safe. However the number of sometime polling station, may increase any time, informed officials sources.
According to sources, in five BTC constituencies of Kokrajhar sub-division there are 51780 valid voters in Fakiragram, 43267 in Bongaigaon, 47686 in Daborgaon 36258 in Boukhungn, 38965 in Salakati constituencies in Kokrajhar sub-division.
At the same time, Kokrajhar district administration has also kept the strong room at Kokrajhar DIET under strict security cover while counting halls are also getting ready in the same primises for counting of notes to take place on April 13 next.
Training of poll officials have been almost completed and arrangements have been made to enable them to reach remote places in time.
