BTC Govt distributes e-rickshaws to beneficiaries

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 13 - The Transport Department of BTC on Tuesday ceremonially distributed 20 Indo Wagen, Electric Rickshaws to beneficiaries at a function held on the premises of Bodoland Guest House, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.

The e-rickshaws were distributed under �Bodoland Vikash Yojana� of the BTC Government. Jagadish Sarkar, Executive Member of BTC who is also in-charge of the Transport Department, BTC etc., attended the programme as the chief guest. Doneswar Goyari and Rajib Kumar Brahma, Executive Members of BTC respectively, Kamal Kumar Brahma, principal of Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, Kokrajhar, Dinesh Boro, Joint Secretary BTC among others also attended the programme.

The chief guest Jagadish Sarkar and the EM�s of BTC Doneswar Goyari and Rajib Kumar Brahma handed over keys of the 20 e-rickshaws to the beneficiaries of BTC during the distribution ceremony. They also handed over keys of two buses to the principal of Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, Kokrajhar for transportation of the students who are staying in different locations in Kokrajhar town.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Sarkar, EM BTC said that the primary objective of the BTC Government is to work for the welfare of the poor and to generate employment for the youths. He also said that under the bold leadership of the BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, the BTC Government has taken various steps to fulfil these objectives.

At the same time, he also informed that altogether 890 e-rickshaws will be distributed in a phased manner with 50 per cent subsidy to the beneficiaries of the four districts of BTC of which 235 will be distributed in Kokrajhar, 210 in Chirang, 235 in Baska and 210 in Udalguri.

He further said that very soon the Transport Department of BTC will start Bodoland bus services from Kokrajhar to various places like Siliguri, Cooch Behar, Shillong etc., and steps have already been taken in this regard, he added.
