BTC EM, MLA interact with gaonburhas

KALAIGAON, June 11 - Jagadish Sarkar, Executive Member of BTC and Maheswar Boro, the newly-elected MLA of Kalaigaon Assembly constituency, had an interactive session on Thursday with 32 Government gaonburhas working under Kalaigaon Revenue Circle.

The programme on the occasion was organised by Kalaigaon branch of Assam Gaonburhas Association and presided over by senior gaonburha Karun Chandra Deka. Basundhar Rabha, secretary of Kalaigaon Gaonburha Association welcomed all the distinguished guests who attended the interactive session.

As a part of the itinerary, the Gaonburha Association felicitated Maheswar Boro and Jagadish Sarkar with a gamosa, sarai and a citation each. Addressing all the gaonburhas present, Sarkar assured that he would jointly work with the newly-elected MLA in the interest of the people of Kalaigaon. He urged all the gaonburhas to play a crucial role in fruitfully implementing the Government schemes.

He further said that they should never consider who had voted for whom. MLA Maheswar Boro said that he would like to work rather than give false promises. DN Hazarika, SDO (Sadar) of Udalguri in his speech said that the gaonburhas could, if they so desired, be a catalyst in changing society.

They could contribute significantly in removing blind beliefs and superstitions from the society. Police Inspector Dimbeswar Das, Officer-in-Charge of Kalaigaon Police Station, Bhupen Borah, secretary of All Assam Gaonburha Association, social worker Kami Ram Saharia, Mouzadar Kamal Prasad Sarma, Assistant Executive Engineer of PHE at Kalaigaon, P Goswami also spoke a few words on the occasion.
