GUWAHATI, Oct 31 - The Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier observed National Unity Day today to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
A march-past was organised by Frontier HQ BSF Guwahati in its campus in the morning. During the event, all the seema praharis participated in their ceremonial dress to enhance thoughts among the multitudes on Vallabhbhai Patel�s efforts and contribution for the nation�s unity.
A pledge-taking ceremony was organised under the supervision of Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General BSF Guwahati Frontier. It was attended by all officers, subordinates and jawans.
In his speech IG Kumar said, �This occasion provides us an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. The intent is to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was instrumental in keeping India united.�
Similar programmes were organised at all the BSF sector HQs, battalion HQs and BOPs under command of Guwahati Frontier.
