BSF seizes Yaba tablets worth 1.99 crores in Cachar district

Silchar, Feb 25: Based on inputs regarding movement of Yaba consignments in Cachar area, troops of 01 Bn BSF intercepted one red-coloured Hyundai i10 car bearing registration number AS-11D-5358 which was plying between Amtala and Kinokhal.

A release issued by Public Relation Cell of BSF informed that the suspected car was searched in the presence of Kathigorah police and 221 packets containing 39,800 Yaba tablets were recovered. BSF sources said that the estimated market value of seized tablets is Rs.1.99 crores. However, two persons in the car fled from the spot.

Further, acting on specific information on Tuesday evening, troops of 07 Bn BSF managed to seize 20 packets containing 4,000 Yaba tabletets amounting to Rs. 20 lakh in the general area of village Alonguri. The police and the BSF are looking for the suspects who are engaged in illicit trafficking of the drugs, the release said.
