BSF seizes smuggled timber, coal in Garo Hills

TURA, Sept 2 - BSF personnel have seized wooden logs, bamboo and coal worth approximately Rs 1.5 lakh while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh through Simsang river in Baghmara. As soon as our troops reached the spot the smugglers fled toward Bangladesh taking advantage of bad weather and high water level in the river due to heavy downpour, said a BSF release.

�Huge consignments of wooden logs, bamboos and coal is being smuggled through the flooded river and nullahs�, added the release. In the last two weeks, the BSF has seized 97 cattle, 998 cft wooden logs, 341 bottles of liquor, two boats, 49 tonnes of coal, etc., while being smuggled out of the country.
