BSF seizes contraband worth Rs 39 lakh

TURA, Aug 23 - A drug smuggler who was notorious for smuggling drugs across the border to Bangladesh was arrested on Thursday from South Garo Hills region by the BSF. The 35 year-old smuggler from West Bengal was apprehended near the Bhogai river bridge on NH 62.

BSF also confirmed that timber and other products worth more than Rs 39 lakhs have been seized by the BSF in the past two weeks.

Among the seized goods were a total of 435 cft of wooden logs, 2268 bamboo poles, 753 bottles of liquor, 96 catlle and other contraband worth over Rs 39 lakhs being smuggled into neighbouring Bangladesh.
