KARIMGANJ, June 28 � The Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Devendra Kumar Pathak has said BSF is doing a commendable job in effectively guarding the international border.
Interacting with BSF jawans and officers posted in the Mizoram and Cachar Frontier, Pathak appreciated the hard work done by the troops and said they were doing a commendable job in keeping a vigil on the international border.
Also appreciating their operational achievements, the DG addressed issues concerning operational/administration of the BSF personnel, BSF Frontier Headquarters Mizoram and Cachar spokesman DIG Satish Budakoti said. During interaction with the officers and troops, the DG emphasised on good food habit and regular exercise for maintenance of good health.
He also mentioned that BSF is taking up several welfare measures for overall improvement of the force.
During his two-day visit to BSF�s Mizoram and Cachar Frontier headquarter, the DG who was accompanied by Additional DG BSF Headquarters (Eastern Command) Ramesh P Singh was briefed by the IG of the HQ, DK Upadhyaya, regarding the security scenario prevailing in Barak Valley. Accompanied by Upadhyaya and other senior BSF officials, the BSF chief carried out an aerial survey of the border area by helicopter, Budakoti said.
He was shown the unfenced gap of approximately 3.5 km in Karimganj town area along the Indo-Bangladesh border and apprised about the problem being faced regarding erection of single row border fencing in that area due to habitation right up to the bank of river Kushiyara. � PTI
