BSF DG reviews security scene

GUWAHATI, July 13 - KK Sharma, Director General, Border Security Force (BSF) visited the BSF Headquarters HQ, Guwahati on July 12 and 13, to take stock of the border security scenario and the security mechanism in view of the scheduled publication of the final NRC draft on July 30.

He was accompanied by Nasir Kamal, Additional DG, BSF Spl DG HQ, Eastern Command, Kolkata, an official release said.

On his arrival, The BSF DG reviewed the progress of implementation of the technological solution, i.e., BOLD-QIT project (Border Electronically Dominated � QRT Interception Technique) in unfenced reverine areas of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries in Dhubri.

He also addressed the troops of BSF Guwahati Frontier and 1st Bn NDRF during a Sainik Sammelan today. He appreciated the diligence of the BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier on the operational front resulting in decline in trans-border crimes, particularly cattle smuggling and infiltration. He expressed satisfaction with the progress on the implementation of the BOLD-QIT project.

Addressing the troops, Sharma apprised them of the ongoing enormous exercise of the NRC updating process by the government and its security implications warranting a heightened security mechanism and apparatus to deal with any emanating eventualities.
