BSF-BGB conference ends

AGARTALA, Nov 27 - The border coordination conference between Inspectors General of the BSF and Region Commanders of the BGB concluded with the signing of a Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) document at the BSF Frontier Headquarters, Salbagan, near here today. Leaders of both the delegations agreed to initiate measures in creating an environment of peace and tranquillity along the international border by amicably resolving all pending issues and further strengthening the bond of friendship, trust and cooperation.

During the strategic security meeting, various bilateral border issues like trans-border crimes including smuggling of drugs and other narcotic substances, border violations and preventive measures, pending development works by the BSF as well as the local civil administrations, construction of a single-row fence along the Indo-Bangladesh International Boundary and the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) were discussed at length.

The head of the BGB delegation, Khondoker Farid Hassan, Additional Director General, Region Commander, South East Region, Chattogram, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to the Bangladesh team here, during the conference. He also thanked the Tripura Government for treating the BGB delegation as State guests.

The head of the BSF delegation, Susanta Kumar Nath, Inspector General, BSF Tripura Frontier, also reiterated the commitment of both the border guarding forces to maintaining peace and harmony along the international border and strengthening the already robust friendly ties.

During the stay of the Bangladesh delegation here, leaders of both the delegations also called on Governor Ramesh Bais and exchanged greetings with him.
