BSF ADG visits disputed border area

AGARTALA, Sept 20 - BSF Additional DG Sanjay Singh visited the disputed Muhurichar area of South Tripura district on Thursday and held a meeting with the District Magistrate (DM) of South, Debapriya Bardhan, sources said here today.

The BSF Additional DG arrived at the Belonia BOP and held a meeting with senior BSF officials and State Government officials. Besides the South DM, the South SP, JS Meena, and the SDM of Belonia, Manik Lal Das, attended the closed-door meeting.

After the meeting, Singh visited the Muhurichar area to take stock of the prevailing situation. Later, he sat in a meeting with the BGB Commandant at the Muhurighat border.

Though there is no official statement from the BSF�s side, the Additional DG is likely to send a report to the higher authorities on the latest position in the Muhurichar area.

Earlier, MP Pratima Bhowmik visited the Muhurighat area and took stock of the latest situation along the border. Due to resistance from the BGB, a number of development activities have been stalled at Belonia.
