ITANAGAR, June 4 - Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona today urged the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to take immediate action to restore a key bridge on the Aalo-Mechuka Road in his home district, Shi-Yomi, which was recently washed away following torrential rain.

The bridge over the Sikam Sibu Nallah near Yapik village under the Tato circle in Shi-Yomi district was completely washed away in the intervening night of June 2 and 3, thereby cutting off the district from the rest of the State.

In a letter to the Chief Engineer of BROs Project Brahmank, the Speaker wrote: The Sikam Sibu Bridge that connects Aalo-Mechukha Road assumes importance as it is the only route through which people of the district travel to various parts of the State. With the washing away of Sikam Sibu Bridge, the people of Shi-Yomi district are now cut off from the rest of the State.

Dorjee stressed that the Aalo-Mechukha Road is essential for movement of people and Defence personnel, transportation of essential commodities, life-saving drugs, construction materials in the entire Shi-Yomi district.
