British tourist cremated

JORHAT, Feb 6 - The body of the British tourist who died here on January 31 was cremated at the Tarajan Cremation Ground here today reportedly as per the wishes of family members of the deceased.

The ashes of the tourist will be sent back to his home. It may be mentioned here that the tourist Alastair Neil Macdonald (81), one among a group of tourists from the UK, was found dead on January 31 morning on the luxury cruise liner Charaidew II that was on a cruise on the Brahmaputra from Guwahati to Upper Assam tourist spots along the river. A representative (Funeral director) from the India Rescue and Funeral Services - a private service provider - from Delhi reached here today to carry out the cremation of the body. In the afternoon with the logistic support provided by the Jorhat district administration the cremation was done at the Tarajan Cremation Ground.
