GUWAHATI, Feb 24 Biren Hazarika, branch manager of Brink Arya Private Limited, who was reportedly abducted by miscreants on February 15, was rescued by Assam Police in the wee hours today on the Assam-Meghalaya border under mysterious condition.

According to police, the abductors were continuously on the move after police started carrying out search operation in the area.

After sniffing the movement of the police party, the abductors became alert and managed to flee under the cover of darkness, Senior Superintendent of Police(City)

Apurva Jeevan Baruah told The Assam Tribune.

Police have so far arrested four persons, including a woman, in this connection.

The SSP also ruled out the role of any extremist group behind the abduction.

These are criminals who in the quest for making quick money resort to extortion and other crimes. They basically hail from Boko and Chaygaon areas, Baruah said.

Meanwhile, Hazarika told mediapersons that he had no clue where he was kept but insisted that it was a case of mistaken identity.
