Bridge will increase trade, commerce in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Jan 14 - DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar told the traders of the city here that there would be rapid growth of trade and commerce in the district with the completion of the upcoming rail-cum-road Bogibeel bridge over the Brahmaputra.

Inaugurating the Municipality Shopping Complex at Jalan Katla Road in New Market, the minister said that Bogibeel bridge would facilitate easy rail and road communication for the people of the region, population of the north bank and also for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. �Bogibeel bridge is bound to double the business activities here,� Ghatowar said.

The minister who is also reviewing the work progress of the 4.315 kms bridge said that he was in constant touch with the Railway Ministry to ensure its timely completion. �Once the work of the superstructures of the bridge are complete, it would not take much time to start off journey over the bridge,� DoNER Minister said.

At the inaugural function of the municipal shopping complex, Dibrugarh Traders Association took the opportunity to submit a public representation to the DoNER Minister with regard to overall improvement of civil facilities and infrastructural development of the city.

The traders body in its memorandum called upon the minister to construct a four storeyed parking facility to solve the problems of congestion and traffic snarls. The business community headed by Pervez Khan and Kaushal Bawari also urged upon the DoNER Minister to ensure self reliant fire fighting measures by digging and installation of a deep bore pump, collection and disposal of garbage in a systematic and organised manner and to construct pay and use public toilets in the city�s market areas. Earlier, Ghatowar also inaugurated a renovated crematorium at Chiring Chapori.
