GUWAHATI, Nov 20 - People of Barbila village in the Chandrapur locality here under the banner of Chandrapur Anchalik Students� Union today staged a protest demanding construction of a bridge over the Digaru river.
The protesters alleged that due to lack of a bridge, all sections of people, especially the student community, have been facing serious problems for the past few days.
Earlier, people crossed the river by a boat but it has not been in service for a while, due to which, swimming is the only option that remains for crossing the river, the locals alleged.
In this connection, the local people have, on several occasions, approached the local MLA, MP and senior officials of the Public Works Department, but they are yet to get any answer from any side.
